Bruised, Not Broken

Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

— Isaiah 35:3-4, 10b

I have a prediction for 2O16 and the years to come: the world is going to get a lot darker, the people more hateful, and the news a lot more shocking.

Like anything in need of healing, it must get worse before it gets better. How do I know that? Simple, by observing the human body. Take a bruise for instance. What might look like a black abyss on your thigh is really quite miraculous — the healing process is taking place. What might seem like the horrible stomach flu, is really the body cleansing itself from that which is unseen – the bacteria that we are unaware of. Have you ever thought about the miracle this is?! Our bodies quite literally take care of business while we rest our bodies in a deep slumber.

The way our body heals and repairs itself parallels the way our world heals. There is much more going on in the unseen than in the seen. Things are only going to get uglier but I promise you, this is only the beginning of God’s redemption. He is repairing souls, He is transforming hearts, and He is ready to come save us. “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come…” (Isaiah 35:4)

So family, my challenge for us all is one that requires a shift in perspective. Instead of being sucked into the abyss of fear and worry – lets put on Truth and choose to see healing. Most importantly, lets be strong and fearless because our world is bruising but our God is rising gloriously like the sun on the throne of victory.
